About Me
Hi, I'm Corina — the person behind 88smart Ideas. I'm not a big publishing company;
I'm one parent who fell in love with a simple idea and decided to bring it to Canada.
How It Started
I lived in Germany for six years, and it was there I first discovered the Freundebuch —
a friendship book German kids fill in with their friends and classmates. My daughter came
home from kindergarten with several of them, and I was hooked. When we moved to
Canada, I couldn't find anything like it here, so I started making my own — first for her,
then as a small side project to share with other families.
What a Freundebuch Is For
A Freundebuch is a memory keepsake — a way to capture who your child's friends were at a particular age, what they looked like, and what they loved. Passing the book to a friend and asking them to fill in their own page is a small but meaningful ritual: it says "you matter to me." For younger kids especially, it's also a gentle icebreaker — a fun way to learn a new friend's favorite color, favorite animal, or birthday. the birthday calendar was very usefull for me!!
How It's Used
The owner hands the book to a friend, who takes it home for a few days, fills in their own page (with a parent's help if they're little), and returns it — ready for the next friend's turn. Over time, the book becomes a keepsake full of handwriting, drawings, and memories your child can look back on for years.
